FICTIONS. Here the mineral subjects escape their geographic identity to be recontextualized and transformed into a new virtual reality, confirmed by the starry-sky background, that was added in post-production. The resulting photographic image presents itself now as a [fictional] documentary image from an utterly different location that has nothing to do with its original source, yet it depicts a real, though optically distorted, geological surface. The final six items here belong to the series "Anthropocene Ruins," imagined aerial views of a post-war dystopian future. All these are from Luray Caverns, Virginia.
