Mono Lake, "ECG" Dawn 2011 Digital photography 20x30 and larger
|
Silhouettes and reflections of the tufa towers characteristic of Mono Lake. They're located mainly in a concentrated area on the south shore. They were formed underwater by calcium deposits from springs. Then as the water level decreased, they were gradually exposed. The primitive lake Bennett covered a much larger area and was considerably deeper. The present-day Mono lake is relatively shallow and covers 60 square miles. |
